Ciconia Touriga Nacional 2012

A nice, inexpensive Portuguese delight. I’ve heard great things about Portugal and I hope to visit soon. Until then I’ll enjoy this small little taste from that part of the world.

I’ll imagined I was enjoying bites of fried Portuguese sausage, Alheira, while I sipped, chugged, gulped down that pretty-darn-good-for-8-bucks bottle of wine.

Badia a Coltibuono Chianti Classico 2009, $15.99
A good pairing is a good pairing, no matter who or what the duo.

When  paired with the salty, nutty, hard but crumbly Parmigiano Reggiano these wines made for a classic coupling. Like Bacall and Bogart.

Like Bacall the wine was smooth and supple. Like Bogart the cheese was powerful and dominating. Together they formed a delicate and delicious balance.
