I’ve had good luck with this Argentinian winery in the past. Tasty and inexpensive, it has never disappointed. I’ve especially been a fan of their Malbec for a couple of years now.

When I saw this white wine from Alamos, the first time I’d ever seen it, it was with that trust that I plucked it off the shelf and put it in my basket with the other bottles that were heading with me to the checkout counter.

Curiosity also played a part. Torrontés? What was that? I had to try it.

S mooth like buttah and then crisp. It snaps shut on your mouth like a Venus-flytrap when it’s caught its prey. But then mellows with a slightly alcoholic finish.  A little light for my tastes. But I’m a loud and overbearing type. Aromatic herbal notes, almost flowery but not too sweet. Still, I’m giving whites a fair shot.

Tonight I’m having a very full-bodied Argentinian Malbec  paired with Hawaiian sweet rolls ($1.49) and buttery soy spread as I prepare my dinner. I know it’s not the classiest combo but they’re two of my favorite things. The bold wine is a nice contrast with the sweetness of the bread. Well, I thought so anyway.
