O kay, I have to say that I find the idea of a Chardonnay day a little silly. It’s kind of like greeting card company cashing in on holidays like Christmas or making up holidays like Valentine’s Day. But a made-up day for celebrating wine? I can get behind that! Count me in!

As you may or may not know, The Hood Somm is all about learning and trying new things. That’s why I started writing this blog. I’ve had so much fun learning about wines that I wanted to share my own journey in the hopes of making it a fun experience for all, outside of the stuffiness of overwrought tasting notes that makes it so unapproachable (not that there’s anything at all wrong with critical analysis but that’s not the only way to approach drinking and enjoying wine).

S mooth like buttah and then crisp. It snaps shut on your mouth like a Venus-flytrap when it’s caught its prey. But then mellows with a slightly alcoholic finish.  A little light for my tastes. But I’m a loud and overbearing type. Aromatic herbal notes, almost flowery but not too sweet. Still, I’m giving whites a fair shot.

I ‘m making an effort to try more white wines, which are not typically my favorite. I’m such a wine racist!

It’s just that some whites have this musky, skunky flavor that I do not currently enjoy. But I will drink on, on a mission to find the white wines that will satisfy my tastes. But who knows, maybe I’ll develop a palate for skunky white wines. That’s the beauty of exposing yourself to new and different things.
